Repetto began in 1947 when Madame Rose Repetto opened a small dance shoe workshop right next to the Paris National Opera. Repetto was an immediate success, with dancers from France and Navarre flocking to the workshop.

In 1956, Madame Repetto created a unique ballerina, using a technique directly inspired by dance shoes: sewn inside out. Thus was born the first Repetto ballerina, immediately synonymous with elegance and lightness.
