Doucal's was started in 1968 by Mario Giannini as a shoemaking shop in the heart of the Marche region of Italy. It was called Ducale because it produced luxury items for an aristocratic clientele. A few years later, Doucal's was founded with an English-sounding name reflecting the ambitions of an Italian man who appreciated the style and quality of British footwear.

Doucal's has since been designed with English aesthetics and a unique Italian fit. Doucal's is manufactured with a layer of memory foam, which keeps the foot cool and comfortable.
